Export Success Program

Exporting is a complex and potentially risky endeavor. To help you succeed and avoid costly mistakes, Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters [CME] with the support of Export Development Canada [EDC] and the Forum for International Trade Training [FITT] has created the Export Success Program (ESP). CME’s Export Success Program is tailored to the needs of businesses interested in growing through international business development. There are four formats to access the information. 
Keep Trade Moving:
The importance of freight mobility in the Inland Northwest

The ability to move goods quickly and efficiently is vital to a healthy economy, and as opportunities around the world continue to grow, so does the importance of being able to reach international markets. We invite you to Join Greater Spokane Incorporated and the Washington Council on International Trade on February 18th for a discussion on freight mobility, Washington State ports, infrastructure, and how to keep trade moving in the Inland Northwest. We will hear from Ashley Probart, Executive Director of the Washington State Freight Mobility Strategic Investment Board, and Eric Schinfeld, President of the Washington Council on International Trade.

International Trade Dispute Prevention and Resolution

Year over year, customs has been increasing both the quantity and monetary penalties to non-compliant importers. Bring your questions to this experienced panel of trade compliance experts who can explain the steps companies can take to mitigate risk of customs penalties and understand the process and options surrounding dispute resolution. This session will pose a series of common scenarios that companies face when dealing with both Canada Border Services Agency and U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Follow along each scenario as they escalate from notification to settlement. 
State of America Series:

The American Chamber of Commerce, Pacific Chapter presents, “The State of the 2016 U.S. Election Campaign”. As the 2016 U.S. election starts to take shape, AmCham's panel of American political experts will meet again to discuss the state of the campaign and look ahead to the fall. This event will take place after the Iowa and Nevada caucuses and the New Hampshire and South Carolina primaries, and just before "Super Tuesday." As such, it falls squarely in the heart of the election campaign.
BPRI colloquium:
The Economic Impacts of Cross-Border Retailing in Whatcom County

WWU Senior Economics student Daniel Edgel presents the results of his honor's thesis, which examines trends in cross-border retail shopping in our region. His observational analysis explores the factors that influence British Columbians to cross the border to shop, how significant same-day cross-border shoppers are to Whatcom County's economy, and the impact that changes in the exchange rate and U.S. domestic policy have on cross-border shopping and the local economy.

This program will help you be in full compliance with all NAFTA regulations. You will know where to go and what to look for to be able to determine if your products qualify for the benefits of NAFTA. Most companies are exposing themselves unnecessarily to NAFTA penalties. In some cases your goods have low or zero duty already and therefore no need to expose your company to potential NAFTA violations or to fill out a NAFTA certificate if your goods do not qualify. Additionally an overview of the 3 new FTA’s (Panama, South Korea, Colombia) will be discussed. Facilitator: Mike Allocca.
EDC introduces “Trade Protect”, quick, online credit insurance
“Trade Protect” is Export Development Canada’s (EDC) export credit insurance option, available exclusively online, for Canadian companies who wish to insure up to five of their U.S. or international customers against non-payment.
