Area business leaders give feedback on “Beyond the Border” Plan

By: IMA Staff
US & Canadian business leaders met recently at WesternWashingtonUniversity to share feedback on the joint US-Canada “Beyond the Border” plan. The event, coordinated by Consulate General of Canada in Seattle and hosted by the University brought together officials from border agencies in both countries, as well as cross-border business professionals from British Columbia and Washington state.
Beyond the BorderThe meeting was an opportunity for businesses experiencing the effects of “Beyond the Border” implementation to inform policymakers and authorities what is, and is not working from a business perspective.
IMA President Jim Pettinger was in attendance, as was noted Bellingham Immigration attorney Greg Boos of Cascadia Cross-Border law. Pettinger called the meeting productive, and said it was a good opportunity to share a business perspective on the bi-national effort at regulatory reform.
WesternWashingtonUniversity’s newsblog “Western Today” covered the July 25 meeting; the article can be read in its entirety here: Officials meet to discuss ‘Beyond the Border’ plan – Western Today August 1, 2013.
